Corporate psychologist-led leadership development
for the Australian Public Service
The Engaging Executive Program™ is a 12-week, corporate psychologist-led program for APS leaders who want to build the human skills that technical expertise cannot replace: influence, presence, empathy and the ability to develop their teams.
Results are verified by an independent Federal Government longitudinal study, validated by participants’ direct managers.
Virtual
Duration: 12 Weeks
EEP is designed for EL1 and EL2 officers across the APS who want to move beyond technical proficiency to genuine leadership effectiveness, building the interpersonal skills that drive engagement, performance and career progression.
Delivered by corporate psychologists with an average of 20 years experience, EEP is underpinned by the Behavioural Traction System: a methodology designed to create permanent behavioural change through virtual workshops, daily practice challenges and video feedback.
Available as an open interagency cohort or a dedicated agency buy-out. Cohorts run from 4 to 12 participants.
By the end of EEP, participants will:

EEP is built around the ENGAGE model, a research-backed framework mapping the six behaviours of highly effective people leaders. The program teaches everyone how to apply them.
En-trance
Executive presence before a word is spoken. Non-verbal signals, posture and eye contact shape every interaction that follows.
Network
Building relationships that last. From small talk to substantive conversation, deepening rapport with anyone, anywhere.
Guide
Influence through words, voice and body language. Guiding others toward outcomes without using positional authority.
Acknowledge
Empathy as a leadership skill. Understanding what matters most to the people around you to build trust and loyalty.
Glow
Making a lasting impression through storytelling and authentic communication that people remember.
Enlighten
Developing others through coaching, balanced feedback and mentoring. Moving from the expert who does to the leader who builds.
EEP uses a proprietary Behavioural Traction System designed to create permanent behavioural change. A pre-program diagnostic identifies individual development priorities, followed by six virtual workshop days delivered fortnightly across 12 weeks. Daily app challenges ensure new skills are applied in real workplace settings.

Duncan Fish is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist, Amazon-bestselling author and the founder and Head Coach of The Engaging Executive. His path to becoming one of Australia’s foremost executive coaches will resonate with many of the people he now develops: he spent much of his early life as a shy, socially awkward young man who found the interpersonal world genuinely difficult. Rather than accept that as a fixed trait, Duncan embarked on a two-decade quest to understand what makes people likeable, influential and effective with others, completing a Psychology degree (finishing in the top 5% of his class), a Master’s in Organisational Psychology, NLP Master Practitioner training, and a qualification as a Dating Coach, with each lens deepening his understanding of human connection in ways that conventional psychology alone could not explain.
He has since conducted over 1,000 executive coaching sessions across more than 20 countries, working with leaders across the public and private sectors. Every element of EEP was built from that lived experience: not from a position of natural charisma, but from having solved the problem himself and built a step-by-step methodology so that others don’t have to spend 20 years doing the same.
